When Milon Miah, founder of Takeaway Taxi decided to set up an on-demand food delivery business in 2010 it was a new concept. A keen entrepreneur he self-funded Takeaway Taxi and the business started off with just a him, a scooter, a phone and a notepad delivering food around Ipswich. The business developed a website in 2014 and this led to an acceleration of growth. We’ve now delivered over £2m of food and operate in four towns across East Anglia.
Our objective is to see delivery done properly. We’re a local business and all our income goes into providing properly paid work for our drivers, supporting local restaurants and developing the business. We’re don’t want to be part of the “gig economy” were staff are exploited. We pay all our taxes due in the UK. We set very high standards for ourselves and have strict procedures in place to ensure any product ordered from Takeaway Taxi arrives at the customer’s door in the best possible condition. We know when we deliver we are representing the quality of our suppliers’ products as well as our own service.
We don’t believe that many restaurants can afford their own delivery drivers, so it makes sense for them to have access to a pool of well trained and experienced drivers. We also don’t believe that all restaurants can afford to give large discounts off their menu prices to subsidise delivery services so we work with them to develop a pricing structure that means delivery is a viable option for the restaurants. We’ve developed a sustainable approach that works for customers, restaurants and delivery drivers.
We’re always looking for new areas to expand our offering so if you’re entrepreneurial and believe you could run your own Takeaway Taxi franchise in your area then please get in touch. Likewise, if you have any questions or suggestions about our service do get in touch. The best way to reach us is at info@takeawaytaxi.co.
